The Guest Room

The innocence of children is not to be taken lightly. For out of the child comes truth. While visiting with our daughter in Ohio, our grandchildren supplied constant entertainment and joyful conversations. I spent one morning with Levi who is 4yrs old. We drew pictures and visited. He drew me a robot it was completely drawn with one black marker, at the end he added one red dot. I asked him what that was for and he explained that it was blood and that the robot died. Oh no ! I exclaimed…he calmly told me don’t worry grammy he went to Heaven. Well goodness I was relieved. He proceeded to tell me with his big brown eyes and curly hair bobbing up and down as he shook his head that he was going to Heaven too, my heart stood still for a nano second as he then said but not now shaking his head back and forth. Another pang hit my heart. I said in reply I’m going there too some day and then someday we’ll all be together with Jesus. With his sweet little voice he whispered “yup”. My heart just jumped out of me. He then said where is Heaven but before I could reply little Levi said “ I think its like upstairs you know…like maybe its like the guest room. Somehow this really resonated something in my soul, and the scripture verse…““Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God ; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.””

John 14:1-4 NIV

In our home we have a guest room, as do our kids. Like most that entertain out of town guests, we make this room fit for people to feel like more than a guest…like family. Putting the comforts of home into it. When our guests leave hopefully they will feel like family. God wants us to know this of what He is preparing for us…His family. Rooms in Heaven where we will live happily in eternal peace with His love and protection over us. Heaven is more than just a airy cloudy space in the sky. It’s a beautiful world with a place that is more than just a building with many rooms. It’s a perfectly lovingly prepared home for His family.
